Our 2016 Production
In 2016 we have two main expressions and one “Commemorative” one. Our Medium Dry cider has been named “Craft” to highlight the ethos behind its production. We don’t believe in adding anything un-necessary and so it’s basically Apples and Yeast, and a little something to control the dryness. Available behind the bar in the Ring o’ Bells and at the Tithe Barn from early Spring.
New and exciting this year we’ve added “Golden Valley”. It’s a bright, clear and sparkling cider available in bottles. The name comes from the two Nailsea coal pits that were in the North East of Nailsea. You can still see the remains of one of them on the grass next to Nailsea Park and Blackthorn Way – it’s the lump with the bushes growing on it.
For 2016 only we have “Stockway Lament”. For ever there has been an old apple tree on the grass next to Stockway South almost opposite the end of Hazelbury Road. We’ve used these apples in our cider in the past, and this year we pressed them along with one other tree. Since then the tree has been cut down and ripped up. I would hope that before this happened a cutting was taken and sent to be propagated. As this is the last year that that tree will produce cider, and because it’s always had very tasty juice we’ve decided to do a “single barrel”, so this will be a very limited run.
